Sun Devil Wind is a team of students from multiple disciplines with one thing in common: a passion for using their knowledge of science and technology to advance a greener future.

Members pick up CAD, machining, electronics, and testing by taking a small-scale wind turbine through every stage of its life, from the first sketch to the wind tunnel.
Three teams — technical, project development, and outreach — that have to talk to one another, because a turbine that nobody can fund, site, or explain does not win anything.
Competing at the Clean Energy Workforce Competition (CWC+), running events at ASU, and taking what we build out to the wider community.

A scale turbine that has to survive a wind tunnel: produce power across a range of wind speeds, control its own rotor, and shut down safely on command. Design, CAD, machining, electronics, control code, and a great deal of testing that fails first.
Site a wind farm and defend it: wind resource data, land and permitting constraints, grid interconnection, cost of energy, and whether the project would actually make money. This half is business and policy, not wrenches.
Stand in front of industry judges and account for every decision the team made, and why.
Only one of these three teams builds hardware. The other two run on business, policy, sustainability, geography, design, and writing — and together they are worth two thirds of what the judges score. Every position listed below maps to something we have to hand in.
Designs, builds, and tests the machine that goes in the tunnel.
Sites a real wind farm on paper and proves it would work financially. Roughly a third of our score, and almost none of it is engineering.
Builds our presence with the public, with schools, and with the wind industry.

Sun Devil Wind runs on materials, machine time, and travel. Supporting a founding-year team is not topping up something that already exists — it is what decides whether the first turbine gets built at all.
