Project development
A carbon-free energy system for a real industrial load, modeled hour by hour across a full year and defended to reviewers acting as investors.

Introduction
Project Development and Stakeholder Engagement is the second scored contest, and it is not a lighter version of the first. We plan a carbon-free energy system for a real industrial load: where it goes, what it costs, and whether it actually balances hour by hour across a full year.
The 2027 rules place the project inside Indiana and cap the area at 100 square miles. The work is modeling, economics, permitting and community engagement, defended to reviewers acting as investors.
What The System Has To Do:
Serve a 50 MW carbon-free load for two years with no grid connection. That means generation, storage, and the hourly balance between them. Every hour of a full year has to add up, not just the annual total.
How It Gets Judged:
A written report and a presentation, defended to reviewers acting as investors. The questions are about assumptions, sources, and whether the money works, so every figure has to trace back to something.
Highlights
- 50 MW: the carbon-free load to serve
- 8,760 hours modeled across a full year
- 100 sq mi: the cap on project area
