Introduction

Operations is one of two teams on the club side of Sun Devil Wind. It is not scored directly, and nothing on the competition side happens without it: machine shop access and training, procurement, the build schedule, the spares, and getting a crated turbine to a competition venue in one piece.

It also runs the club’s presence on campus. Tabling, and the events that give a way in to students who are not on the competition team. It is the team most likely to be noticed only when it fails, and the one most of the club will actually see.

What This Owns:

Two lead seats. Shop owns access, build and parts: certification and machine bookings, so the people who need to cut metal can, and procurement, so parts arrive before they are needed rather than after. Logistics owns tabling and travel: the build schedule, the campus presence that brings new members in, and getting the turbine to the venue intact.

Why It Decides The Season:

Every other team depends on this one. Rotor work stops without shop time. Electrical work stops without parts. Recruiting stops without a table and somebody standing at it. And the whole season stops if the turbine does not arrive in one piece.
